Sophie the Elephant Ear Plant

Plant taxonomy classifies the most widely known elephant ears, or "taro," as Colocasia esculenta. I will never call it anything else but elephant ear plant.

this particular plant is named Sofie. Sofie says, FEED ME! and drinks 6 gallons of water a day, or wilts if it doesnt get it. This is a shot after it has had a few gallons of water. it will droop to the ground if not watered regularly. the stalks of the plant look almost like celery and hold a lot of water and so are very firm, to hold up these big leaves. if they dont have enough water they soften and bow over and the leaves point to the ground and shrivel up.
